Marty Miller Blueprint for Men Founder | President | | | CHALLENGE #2: Intimacy Collapse By Marty Miller There are collapses you can hear—an explosion, a crash, a shout. And then there are collapses you don’t hear until the dust has already settled: the slow erosion of intimacy, the quiet drift of a man’s heart, the private compromises that gradually rewrite his courage, his clarity, and his capacity to love. For many men, this collapse begins the same way: not with a decision to destroy their marriage or their faith, but with a decision to cope—to self-soothe, to escape pressure, to manage loneliness, to medicate stress, to scratch an itch that feels impossible to ignore. Pornography offers an instant, secret, on-demand “answer.” It also plants a slow-growing poison. This is not a new battle. It’s an ancient one—now weaponized by modern access. | | | | | | | An Ancient Temptation With Modern Amplifiers Sexual temptation is as old as humanity, because it’s tied to deep and good things—desire, connection, pleasure, longing, power. Scripture never pretends men are immune. It tells the truth: - “Each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.” (James 1:14–15)
- “Flee from sexual immorality.” (1 Corinthians 6:18)
- “I have made a covenant with my eyes…” (Job 31:1)
From Genesis onward, the Bible shows how sexual sin can hijack a man’s calling. Not just “bad men.” Not just pagans. Men who knew God. Giants Who Fell - David—a warrior-poet, “a man after God’s own heart”—stayed home when he should have been at war, looked too long, and took what wasn’t his (2 Samuel 11). What followed wasn’t just an affair; it was deception, abuse of power, and death. David’s cry in the aftermath still echoes: “Create in me a clean heart, O God…” (Psalm 51).
- Samson—a man gifted with supernatural strength—could tear lions apart, but couldn’t consistently govern his appetite (Judges 13–16). His life warns us that power in one area never guarantees purity in another.
- Solomon—the wisest man in Scripture—accumulated wives and concubines until his heart was pulled off center (1 Kings 11). The drift wasn’t instant. It was gradual. It was “manageable.” Until it wasn’t.
If this can happen to them, what makes any modern man think he’s above it? Questions Worth Sitting With: - Where have I been telling myself, “I can handle this”?
- What would my wife (or future wife) say if she could see my private life clearly?
- What is porn training me to expect from sex—and from women?
- What kind of man am I becoming when no one is watching?

This series is not a theological deep dive, but an intentional journey of personal surrender to the heart of God. It is an invitation for you to grapple with your real questions—the nagging ones that the Bible doesn’t seem to answer, the sin struggles that won’t go away, the shame that still haunts you—and let them draw you closer to God instead of farther away. 8 Sessions | Free Study Guide | | | Here's an interview with Juli Slattery that was featured on "Hole in My Heart Podcast" titled "Surrendered Sexuality".
